چکیده

Background: A fatal outcome occurs in 2% of patients with Reversible Cerebral Vasoconstriction Syndrome (RCVS). Due to its rarity, guidelines for the management most severe forms RCVS are lacking. Case presentation: Here, we describe case a 55 year-old woman who died from complications and reviewed reported literature. In our patient, first episode neurological deterioration was preceded by an increase cerebral blood flow velocities assessed transcranial Doppler. evolution could not be prevented despite therapeutic escalation consisting multiple non-invasive invasive treatments including cervical sympathetic bloc continuous arterial infusion nimodipine at site vasoconstriction. Conclusion: This review literature illustrate challenges RCVS. We here how monitoring might help anticipate clinical worsening beginning disease propose novel strategies based on neurophysiological parameters.

Reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome.

Reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS) is an under-recognised condition. It is characterised by sudden and severe headaches (of "thunderclap" type) associated with multifocal reversible narrowing of the intracranial arteries on neuroradiology. The diagnosis is often established with the resolution of headaches and vasoconstriction. We report two patients with RCVS and review the a...

Reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome.

Reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndromes (RCVS) are a group of disorders that have in common an acute presentation with headache, reversible vasoconstriction of cerebral arteries, with or without neurological signs and symptoms. In contrast to primary central nervous system vasculitis, they have a relatively benign course. We describe here a patient who was diagnosed with RCVS.

Reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome.

BACKGROUND Reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome is characterized by thunderclap headache associated with multifocal vasoconstriction of cerebral arteries in patients without aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). The vasoconstriction reverts within three months. We report a 44-year-old man who had a thunderclap headache during sexual intercourse. A similar episode occurred at rest 3...

Reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome – A narrative revision of the literature

Reversible Cerebral Vasoconstriction Syndrome (RCVS) is a not very well known clinical-imaging entity; it is characterized by thunderclap headache, which mimics an aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage, and a diffuse and segmental constriction of cerebral arteries, that resolves spontaneously within 3 months. The pathophysiology remains unknown. The female gender is the more affected and more tha...

Triptan-induced Reversible Cerebral Vasoconstriction Syndrome: Two Case Reports with a Literature Review

We encountered two patients with sumatriptan-induced reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS). The present patients were taking sumatriptan for the first time because they had been tentatively diagnosed with a migraine. On reviewing the literature, we found nine other cases of triptan-induced RCVS, predominantly among women aged 30 to 40 years. RCVS has been precipitated by triptan ...
